Julian Marley son of the legendary Robert Nesta Marley, is a reggae artist that has made his mark in the entertainment industry by creating hits that are not only filled with intoxicating rhythm and vibes but also translate messages about serious societal issues. He is known for his countless hit songs with conscious lyrics that encourage conversation and force people to pay attention. With the fragile state that the world is currently in due to the COVID-19 pandemic; people have become more aware of problems plaguing our society. Issues of Climate Change, Racial Injustice and Money over Human Life have been illuminated even more over recent months.

Buzzz Caribbean Lifestyle Magazine had the opportunity to speak with Julian Marley and hear his thoughts on the critical role of music in the world presently as well as his new collaboration with Junior Reid “Mother Nature”.

With the world basically on a standstill, there have been crippling effects on the entire entertainment industry. Shows, Concerts and all large gatherings have all been cancelled leaving a major gap in the normal way of life for musicians and entertainers alike. Marley admits that we are in difficult times, however, he has managed to remain focused on creating.

“Personally I’ve been doing well. I’ve been doing a lot of writing and meditation. The people dem need the word so you find yourself always getting something together musically,” says Julian Marley.

The Instagram live platform allows him to stream live music and directly interact with his following. “You just take up the camera and start to do something you know. At least we can still stay inspired and inspire the people,” says Marley.

“Mother Nature” the latest single, produced by Breaking Expectations and J-Rod Records from Trinidad and Tobago which was released in August highlights our responsibility as humans to love and take care of each another and the environment. The video filmed by JustbussTv, edited by Jono Hurst (HD Media) and produced by Rachelle Yap; is filled with powerful imagery of nature in its many forms. The stunning visuals perfectly intertwine with the lyrics of the song and clearly translate the message.
